Silicon Knights Scores CDN$3M Grant, Creates 80 New Jobs In Canada

Eternal Darkness and Too Human developer Silicon Knights continues to expand, scoring a grant valued at a cool CDN$3 million from the Canadian government. According to a Gamasutra report, the funds will allow Silicon Knights to publish its own titles, in addition to creating 80 new jobs at the studio.

This comes on top of the CDN$35 million that Silicon Knights and its partners invested into the studio over the last five years. The studio has yet to ship a title since 2008′s Xbox 360-exclusive big-budget effort Too Human, which didn’t exactly win over critics to say the least. It is currently working on X-men Destiny, an action-RPG due for release in September.

Silicon Knights says it plans to see the Too Human franchise to completion, despite the subpar reception. No recent announcements have been made on that front, however. Additionally, the studio is in the middle of a legal battle with Epic Games over breach of contract, claiming that Epic failed to deliver Unreal Engine 3 in a workable state – forcing SK to create an in-house engine for Too Human.

Oh... they're doing X-Men Destiny? Ehhh... after Too Human, I'm disgusted with the company. The game is the single largest piece of shit I've played this generation.

SK had a nice idea with TH... but the entire rest of the game was a botch job.
