Wada On Final Fantasy VII Remake: A Possibility Being Explored
by March 22, 2010 @ 8:41 pm

Square Enix CEO and president Yoichi Wada just might have single-handledly set the Final Fantasy fan community on fire. It’s one thing when employees on the creative end express interest in developing a product but when the top brass follow suit, that’s when you know things are inching closer to reality. The company is exploring the possibility of a Final Fantasy VII remake, according to Wada-san in a Siliconera interview, echoing previous comments made by producer Yoshinori Kitase recently:
Right now we don’t have a clear direction, but many fans have requested we remake Final Fantasy VII. We’re going to explore the possibility – whether or not we’re going to do it, if we’re going to do it, and the platform.
Coming from the CEO himself, that ‘possibility’ certainly serves as a strong glimmer of hope. Circa E3 2005, Square Enix showed off a brief PS3-targeted technical demo of what FFVII could conceivably look like if it was remade for current-gen platforms.
