Just like the SNES classic it’s based on, the upcoming successor to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past will feature both a light world and a dark world. The news was confirmed by longtime series producer Eiji Aonuma in an interview with CNET.

While details were under wraps regarding the aforementioned feature, Aonuma explained the reasoning behind Link’s ability to become a part of walls as a drawing. According to the producer, the idea was influenced by the Phantom Ganon encounter in Ocarina of Time. After thinking about how the Forest Temple boss was able to jump in and out of a painting on a wall, Aonuma thought, “What if Link could have the same power?”

In addition to this info, the dev stated that the world of A Link to the Past was ready to be revisited on the 3DS. The top-down structure of the revered SNES game will be utilized so that players can explore the world in different ways using the 3DS system’s stereoscopic features.
