EA Financials: Crysis 2 Nearly Hits 3 Million, Battlefield 3 Pre-Orders Up 10x Over Bad Company 2

EA released its financials for the first quarter of fiscal Q1 2012 today, posting a net profit of $221 million on total revenue of nearly $1 billion, up from $96 million on $815 million last year.
Growth was driven by several of EA’s core properties. Crysis 2 “nearly” hit the 3 million sell-through mark, while Dragon Age 2, Dead Space 2, and Portal 2 sold over 2 million. Looking ahead, the company says “digital is tracking extremely well.” Battlefield 3 pre-orders have topped Bad Company 2 by a magnitude of 10x.
Star Wars: The Old Republic is also shaping up to be another standout in EA’s expansive portfolio. Pre-orders for the title have set an “EA record.” No specifics were divulged beyond that, unfortunately.
To date, Bad Company 2 has sold around 9 million copies. If the uptick in pre-orders is any indication, BF3 is destined for an impressive debut. Will it eclipse Modern Warfare 3, as EA aspires? Only time will tell.
