Update: GameStop Outs Fake Battlefield 3 PC System Requirements

Update: DICE rendering architect Johan Andersson says these aren’t the real deal in a post over at Beyond3D. Apparently GS lifted them from a BF fansite.

Is your rig up to snuff for what will undoubtedly be one of the biggest titles to grace PC this year? While we have yet to receive official word from DICE, a GameStop listing has outed the system requirements for Battlefield 3.  Here’s the skinny:

Minimum
Hard Drive Space: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version
OS: Windows Vista or Windows 7
Processor: Core 2 Duo @ 2.0GHz
RAM: 2GB
Video Card: DirectX 10 or 11 compatible Nvidia or AMD ATI card

Recommended
Hard Drive Space: 15 GB for disc version or 10 GB for digital version
OS: Windows 7 64-bit
Processor: Quad-core Intel or AMD CPU
RAM: 4GB
Video Card: DirectX 11 Nvidia or AMD ATI card, GeForce GTX 460, Radeon Radeon HD 6850

About in line with what we expected. Note the Windows Vista/7 requirement, as DICE did say it was leaving DX9 behind with the release of BF3.

MenaceInc says:

Any DX10 card? Including a 4250? It's hardly very descriptive requirements. :\

El Diablo says:

Why is the digital version so much smaller?

x3sphere says:

DICE just called fake on these. GameStop lifted them from a fansite apparently

MenaceInc says:

Thought so. Way too ambiguous.

Ecko says:

I did not believe these specs for a second. They seemed wayyy too low, especially considering that the OFFICIAL ARMA 3 minimum specs are

CPU: Intel Core i5 or AMD Athlon Phenom X4 or faster

GPU: Nvidia Geforce GTX 260 or ATI Radeon HD 5770, shader Model 3 and 896 MB VRAM, or faster

RAM: 2 GB

HDD: 15 GB free space

DirectX: 10

So my guess is that BF3 minimum req's are more along those lines, perhaps slightly less demanding since I imagine Dice and EA are more concerned about drawing a larger audience.

Seth says:

I too wanna know this...

MenaceInc says:

I wouldn't say they were too low, just too vague. My issue with them was that there was no performance index given for the GPU, it just said "any DX10 card"
