Sony Puts PlayStation Rewards Program On Hold

by Mike Bendel on March 29, 2011 @ 10:22 am

Sony’s incentive-fueled loyalty program, PlayStation Rewards, has been put on hold indefinitely. By way of an e-mail blast sent to beta testers this morning, it’s been revealed that the initiative will not launch in April as originally planned.

Sony feels the service is “not ready,” further thanking beta participants for their valued feedback throughout the testing process.

“Based on what we learned, we have decided the program is not ready to roll out to the public in April as originally planned. But rest assured, we will continue to thank loyal and devoted customers like you with innovative offerings,” read the e-mail.

With no indication as to plans going forward, things aren’t looking up. The program was launched last year on an invite-only basis, offering up rewards such as sweepstakes and themes based on levels of engagement.

Sucks.

I wonder what changes they are going to make?

TeamOverload says:

On the plus side they're sending us testers t-shirts haha :D

Abe Froeman says:

Are they? I didn't see anything about that in the email I got.

FrozenIpaq says:

They figured you were too old and don't need any sort of consolation

Dan says:

Plus the fact that parents don't need t-shirts, they need morales and a sense of discipline.

Abe Froeman says:

Get off my lawn.

TeamOverload says:

That was at the end of the email I received.

Bran says:

If they send you a small, can I have it?

I'm sure they will mail out like XXXXXXL because gamers are supposed to be composed of snacks.

TeamOverload says:

That's a good point haha. Hopefully they go with a large *fingers crossed* I'll let ya know though.
