Volition Goes In-House for Future PC Efforts, Calls PC Version of Next Red Faction ‘Beautiful’

Volition received a fair amount of flak over quality-related issues with outsourced PC ports of Saints Row and to a lesser extent Red Faction: Guerrilla. After numerous botched attempts, much to the frustration of fans, the company has decided to stop offloading development to external partners.
Going forward, Volition is giving its PC titles extra care, developing them entirely in-house. Studio manager Eric Barker tells Eurogamer that the initiative will begin with Red Faction: Armageddon, which is due out on May 31. Barker says the PC version looks “absolutely beautiful.”
Some people say PC is dying. Some people say PC is the future. PC is the most variable, because it depends on what you’ve got under the hood.
For us, the key thing was making sure the PC version was done in-house.
You should see [the PC version of Red Faction: Armageddon], it looks absolutely beautiful. If you’ve got a great graphics card it looks fantastic. We definitely believe PC games are great and if they’re done right and done well by a studio, they’re phenomenal.
It’s encouraging to see another developer give the PC the attention it deserves.
