Sony Backpedals On PSPgo Price Drop

by Mike Bendel on March 8, 2011 @ 11:37 am

It seems the PSPgo can never catch a break. Late last week, Sony revealed plans to drop the price of the UMD-free portable to $150 on its official website. Unfortunately, it turns out the mark down was merely a mistake or a premature update, as the site has dropped any mention of the reduction.

Sony themselves remain mum on the matter – there’s not even a retracted note on the site.

At its $199 asking price and limited digital selection, the PSPgo is a tough sell, considering it carries a $70 premium over that of the PSP-3000. Sleek looks can only go so far. Not to mention, with the NGP on the horizon, here’s hoping a price drop is in the PSPgo’s future sooner rather than later.

I was actually thinking about getting it to use as a portable system until the NGP comes out, now nevermind.

Sony, forever doomed. Marketing people that should have found something else to do, like farming maybe.

Good, gives me more time to sell it for a decent price :P
