Konami Shutters Hudson Entertainment

The house of Bomberman is closing. Following its recent move to take complete ownership of Hudson as the sole shareholder, Konami has decided to close Hudson Entertainment, which represents the US division of Hudson. Product and Brand Manager Morgan Haro broke the news in a blog post earlier today. His account of the events indicate that all previously planned projects at the studio have been terminated, with the branch closing its doors later this month.

The overseeing Japanese arm — Hudson Soft — remains operational. Haro says the outfit will likely focus on social games, which jives with Konami investor talk that emerged in January.

We encourage readers to check out Haro’s complete write-up on the closure, as it hits some interesting points — notably the lack of middle ground in today’s industry, which contributed to Hudson’s struggle to expand.

I didn't realize Hudson Entertainment even MADE games. I assumed all the games were made at Hudson Soft. That kinda sucks. I know Konami America is just a holdings company so I'm surprised they didn't just bring the two together.
