Final Fantasy Agito XIII Renamed Final Fantasy Type-0, Spans 2 UMDs

Alongside the recent confirmation of Final Fantasy XIII-2, Square Enix has provided an update on the status of Final Fantasy Agito XIII. Still slated to hit PSP, the company has decided to separate it from the XIII universe, giving it the moniker of Final Fantasy Type-0.

Additionally, according to a Siliconera report, the title will span 2 UMDs. A large portion of that storage space will be used to house voice overs for more than 30 characters. What’s more, is that Square has filed trademarks for similar titles, such as Type-1 and  Type-2, indicating that this could possibly mark the start of a new series.

Type-0 is currently scheduled for a Sumer 2011 debut in Japan. There’s no word on a stateside release as of yet. Hit the break for a Japanese trailer.

I didn't even remember about Agito. Was always more so interested in Versus XIII. Has any gameplay footage of Agito/Type-0 even been released?

There's a few short segments of gameplay footage in the trailer I posted. It's an action RPG, I believe. Battle system kinda reminds me of Crisis Core.

Just watched the 6min long footage, it seems more Kingdom Hearts-ish actually, x3. But better, the vibe of Versus XIII just looks right. Let's hope it's the game XIII should have been.

I am also curious to see this Type-0, portable Square-Enix is awesome :D

What the fuck is SE doing? Honestly, what the fuck are they thinking?

Every single person over there needs to be fired.

Instead of trying to make 800 versions of bad Final Fantasy titles, why not work hard to make solid efforts...
