Bethesda Snaps Up Ex-Starbreeze Studio Responsible for Riddick

It seems Bethesda parent ZeniMax is on an acquisition spree as of late. Mere weeks after the company acquired Shinji Mikami’s startup Tango, word emerges that it has also inked a strategic move to snap up MachineGames, an upstart studio comprised mainly of former Starbreeze staffers.

Starbreeze was responsible for 2004′s well-received hit The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay, in addition to The Darkness.

While ZeniMax has not officially announced the acquisition, industry site Gamasutra has confirmed it, citing “off the record” sources.

Although Machine Games have no publicly-known projects in the pipeline, the studio positions itself as a “developer of exciting AAA titles for next-gen platforms” according to its official website.

Bethesda is investing quite a bit as of late... That can only be good (or at least I hope so)..

Given their track record, I can't see anything but good coming from these acquisitions.
