Bethesda parent ZeniMax continues to amass creative talent, announcing today that it has acquired Shinji Mikami’s upstart studio Tango. Mikami, best known as the father of Resident Evil and most recently the excellent trigger-happy shooter Vanquish, formed Tango in March of this year.
“It’s refreshing to find a publisher who understands, trusts, and supports the development of blockbuster games and works to make it a collaborative effort,” said Mikami. “The library of AAA franchise titles ZeniMax owns speaks for itself. We are very excited to be joining ZeniMax and working with a company that is dedicated to creating the best games ever made.”
When it comes to churning out hits, Mikami is a proven force, with five of his latest works garnering a 90 or above average on review aggregate site MetaCritic. Under the agreement with ZeniMax, he will continue to helm day-to-day operations at Tango and serve as creative lead for all projects going forward.
