Capcom’s love for the 3DS knows no bounds. Having already announced Mega Man Legends 3 and Resident Evil: The Mercenaries for the platform, word emerges that the company has teamed up with developer Level 5 of Dragon Quest and Professor Layton fame for a mashup of epic proportions — a 3DS effort tentatively titled Phoenix Wright vs Professor Layton.

The crossover is said to combine the logic puzzles of Layton with the intrigue and courtroom drama that surrounds Phoenix Wright. It’s a near perfect combination, as the two franchises complement each other. To top it off, Ace Attorney creator Shu Takumi is penning the scenario, so expect to uncover plenty of contradictions in pursuit of the truth.

Catch an off-camera video clip of the debut trailer above. There’s no word on a release date. Given the rising popularity of both franchises here in the West, we’d assume a stateside release is a lock.
