It appears that the original Xbox titles now available for purchase via the Live Marketplace are indeed region locked. While this is somewhat expected, considering that retail 360 games are region locked, it has been reported that even tricks which worked for downloading Japanese game demos on a US 360, do not work for downloading Xbox Originals from a different region.

With the simple trick of making a silver Xbox Live account in Japan, Xbox 360 owners were privy to advance demos like Eternal Sonata and a chance to try out unreleased games like Zegapain Not. However, even if you have Microsoft Points loaded into a Japanese account you cannot download Puyo Pop Fever or Magatama.
