XBLA GoldenEye Was Nearly Finished, Scrapped At Last Minute

A couple days ago, we reported on a rumor that suggested that Rare was working on an Xbox Live Arcade version of GoldenEye, but at the last moment right before release, the project was scrapped.
According to 1UP, this is not a rumor, it’s true. The XBLA version of GoldenEye was indeed real. However, it was not a remake, but rather a complete port of the original with the addition of online multiplayer over Live.
So why didn’t the port see the light of day? Microsoft’s attempted financial negotiations with Nintendo failed and that’s it. The title was scrapped, right at the last minute. A shame, really.
