We knew it was coming, but today Microsoft officially confirmed it: Super Contra is heading to the Xbox Live Arcade service this Wednesday. Players can choose from two gameplay modes, gung-ho single player or two player co-op, either locally or via Live. Also, players can choose to play with either the original graphics or the enhanced graphics, and twelve Achievements are up for grabs.

That’s not all. In addition to confirming the arrival of Super Contra, Microsoft also announced that Wing Commander Arena will be heading to the Live Arcade this Wednesday. The game is a 3D arena style remake of the original Wing Commander and will feature four new modes of gameplay, nine maps and 16 player multiplayer combat over Xbox Live.

Both games will set you back 400 Microsoft Points and 800 Microsoft Points, respectively.
