Valve: Major Left 4 Dead Update Announcement Imminent

Valve writer Chet Faliszek recently said the first batch of downloadable content for Left 4 Dead was due for release shortly. But when? Shortly in Valve time could mean months, after all.
Good news: we won’t be waiting very long, it seems. A company spokesperson told gaming weblog Kotaku that said update, along with the long-promised Source 2008 SDK, will be formally announced soon, as early as next week. There are still no details in regards to what the update’s contents might entail, but it is very likely that we’ll see the inclusion of at least one new versus map. Beyond that though, is anyone’s guess at this point.
