Star Trek Online Re-Announced, Cryptic Named As Developer

It’s official. Champions Online developer Cryptic Studios is continuing work on the Star Trek Online MMO project, which was left abandoned by Perpetual Entertainment earlier this year.

Slated to arrive on “both console and PC formats” at an unannounced date, Star Trek Online allows players to assume the role of either a Federation Captain or Klingon Warrior. Players can fully customize their starship as well as recruit new characters into their crew in an effort to build up a formidable combat and exploration force.

In addition to the first gameplay trailer, more details are expected to be unveiled at the annual Star Trek Convention next month on August 10.

hmm kinda sounds like a lame version of starwars battle front.

i like the idea , i would seriously hope for more races in expansions. Starwars = sabers and goofy flips...
This is more of a guild vs guild game. I think it has SERIOUS potential.... if the proper time and money to develop it is put in. The possibilities are endless. It depends how far into the startrek they go. If you can specialize and learn to be a helms man , a security officer, etc etc etc. I would actually find this quite entertaining to work on. Having loved the mmo Shadowbane... This stands to have that kinda structure for char development , and a starship as the relm. Ill bet you could kill any lag issues with this format too.
