Square Enix Opening U.S. Development Studio, New IP In Development

According to a job listing on Indie Games, Final Fantasy IP holder Square Enix is ramping up game development efforts here in the U.S. with the imminent opening of a studio located in El Segundo, Los Angeles.
Initially, the studio will fuel efforts in creating an “action-oriented original IP” from the ground-up. Square Enix says it is currently in search of individuals to “lay the foundation for a solid development team.”
Specific job listings on the company’s official North American site list a number of career opportunities, ranging from a software engineer position that calls for an expertise in Xbox 360 development to product manager.
Square Enix kick-started its renewed focused on the Western market last March, when president Yoichi Wada announced that the company would be “making simultaneous releases the norm.” Since then, Square Enix has released several titles on a global basis, the most recent being Xbox 360 RPG Infinite Undiscovery. Additionally, the company reached an agreement with Redmond-based developer Gas Powered Games last week to publish Supreme Commander 2.
