Ubisoft announced today that it will be bringing a faithful remake of the 1989 DOS classic, Prince of Persia, to Microsoft’s Xbox Live Arcade early this summer. Developed by Gameloft studios, Prince of Persia Classic will retain the all the elements that made the original great, featuring the very same intricate level design, mind-bending puzzles, exciting swordplay, and classic save the princess storyline.

Though gameplay alone isn’t the only area where Prince of Persia Classic will stay true to its roots. Gameloft is crafting the game for the next-generation with glorious, high-res 2D visuals that pay homage to the original, plus improved character designs, animations, and spectacular lighting effects.

To freshen the gameplay experience, new traps, puzzles and enemies have also been added. View the first screenshots of this upcoming XBLA gem after the jump.
