Microsoft released a statement today announcing that it has completed its planned workforce reduction today, cutting 800 jobs this week. Nine months ahead of schedule, the tally brings Microsoft over its original target of 5000 jobs in a span of nine months.

While here’s no breakdown on which divisions have been affected, we’ve heard that a percentage of these cuts have impacted the Xbox side of business.

There’s no concrete word on if this is the last round of cuts. While Microsoft has met its reduction target, a statement from a company spokesperson does not rule out the possibility of even more job losses, noting that “continuing to manage our businesses closely, as we always do, can mean additional headcount adjustments.”

Good luck to those affected, as always.

If Micro$haft are laying off loads of people then that means that all there resources are being used elsewhere, Mmm a new Next Gen Console maybe is on the cards to blow $ony & Nintendo out of the water.
