Speaking in a recent interview, Valve co-founder Gabe Newell revealed that a demo of its upcoming co-op centric shooter Left 4 Dead will be made available through Steam as well as the Xbox Live Marketplace later this year.

We will be releasing demos for both the Xbox and for the PC. I don’t know what the date is for release on that, though. I think it’s going to contain the first part of one of the campaigns. I think it’ll probably be Hospital but I’m not sure. That’s a decision that Doug Lombardi is making.

Newell further noted that the demo will allow players to test out both the online mode and single-player campaign. Sounds good – releasing a demo can be a bold move these days, but it does show that Valve has utmost confidence in its product.

Left 4 Dead is scheduled for a November 18 debut in North America, with a European release following on the 21st.
