Microsoft today sent word that development on Ensemble Studios’ self-proclaimed “genre-defining” real-time strategy title Halo Wars has officially wrapped up and to celebrate, they have dropped details on the game’s public demo, which is set to arrive on February 5.

Come next month on the 5th, you will be able to experience the first two campaign missions in Halo Wars. Also included is a multiplayer map taken straight from the full game, in which players can battle it out against AI-controlled opponents in Skirmish mode. No mention of online play, however, leading us to believe that such functionality will be disabled in the demo.

The full disc-based version of Halo Wars is slated to hit North American shelves on March 3, with a European release occurring a week earlier on February 27.
