Guwange Shoots Up XBLA November 10

Shinjuku, Japan-based independent developer CAVE announced today that Guwange will release worldwide on November 10, marking its first “exclusive” Xbox Live Arcade effort. A vertical-scrolling shooter, the title sports a distinct old-school feel, as evidenced by the pixel-heavy visuals.

The announcement comes as a result of a fan poll that CAVE ran on its in-house development blog last year. Of the shooters listed, Guwange took the no. 1 spot in popularity.

The XBLA rendition of Guwange features several enhancements apt for retro-revivals, including a wealth of options that allow players to make tweaks to visual settings such as the screen orientation and smoothing intensity.

In addition to the vanilla arcade mode, Guwange features an arrange mode specific to the XBLA release which is designed to be “more accessible” with simplified controls. Topping that off is a mode dubbed “Arrange (Blue),” which targets the hardcore and “those who can’t get enough medieval bullet hell.”

Guwange will cost 800 MS Points ($9.99).
