GamePro’s March issue claims to have a special report on the still-unannounced Gears of War 2, leading many to believe that a possible official announcement would be coming soon. Sorry to wreck the anticipation folks – but Epic Games VP Mark Rein has remarked that the Gears of War 2 content in this upcoming issue is “complete nonsense.”

It is complete nonsense. We have not announced a sequel to Gears of War to Gamepro or anyone else for that matter.

Let’s not kid ourselves here, we all know a sequel is coming. There’s been an overabundance of rumors and considering the success of the first Gears, it would be crazy for Epic not to develop a sequel. But taking Rein’s statement into account, it’s a safe bet that we won’t be getting any concrete info on Gears 2 in the next issue of GamePro.
