Capcom On XBLA: File Size Limits No Longer An Issue

Awhile back, we had reported that Capcom was running into problems regarding the 150MB size cap with two of its upcoming Xbox Live Arcade titles, namely Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix and Bionic Commando Rearmed. As a result, Capcom was considering to sacrifice graphical quality in an attempt to make the games fit within the imposed size limits.

Thankfully, this is no longer a cause for concern.

Two of Capcom’s upcoming digitally distributed titles will be larger than Xbox Live Arcade’s current size limit of 150 megabytes.

The statement comes directly from Capcom senior director of communications Chris Kramer, who further defined this as Microsoft making a “very special exception” for Capcom.

I can see why Microsoft caved in. Rearmed and SSFIITHD are two of the more high profile titles hitting XBLA this year — wouldn’t look good for Microsoft if the XBLA versions were “gimped,” as they say.
