In an obvious attempt to gain ground in the “format war”, Microsoft has cut the price of its Xbox 360 HD-DVD from $199 to $179. The price cut was announced today, during the annual Comic-Con International. The new price goes into effect on August 1, and for anyone purchasing the drive through Aug. 1 to Sept. 30, Microsoft will throw in five free HD-DVD movies (from a selection of 15 titles) with your purchase.

I agree, 20 bucks is fairly piss-piddle, they can afford more. One thing I wonder- can you use the drive with your computer? I mean, it's just USB, right?

NOTE: it doe say they'll give you 5 out of 15 HDVDs free so that must be woth at least another $20 if not more. Although i doubt we will get the same overr here in UK, it would be more like £10 off and 2 hdvds :mad1:
