Wii DVD Playback Unlocked

Looks like DVD playback on the Wii has been fully unlocked thanks to modding team Team Symbiote. Well. Sort of. You’ll first need a compatible modchip installed, then burn the DVD Player application to a CD, then finally swap with any DVD movie at the prompt.
Not the most elegant of solutions but certainly proves DVD playback on the Wii is possible. Will Nintendo ever officially enable DVD playback? Possibly, but we’re sure that would involve some hefty licensing fees.
