Publisher Ubisoft today announced Dawn of Discovery, a real-time strategy and simulation title in development for Wii, Nintendo DS, and PC.
Dawn of Discovery takes place in the year 1404, a troubled era where King George’s land is suffering from severe droughts and a widespread shortage of food. Players are tasked with building up a civilization by setting up trade routes and communicating with different cultures to secure prosperity.
“Dawn of Discovery allows gamers to take the civilization-building experience to the next level of fun and interactivity,” said Adam Novickas, director of marketing for Ubisoft. “We’re pleased to be bringing the brand new, uniquely designed game to not only the PC and Nintendo DS, but also to Wii for the first time.”
While the console and handheld versions of the title will sport “clever” use of the Wii Remote and and DS stylus, the PC edition is powered by a scalable 3-D engine tailored towards both high and low-end desktop configurations. Additionally, the Wii version will feature a two player co-op mode. Specific to the PC version is the ability to challenge other players online and track stats through leaderboards.
Dawn of Discovery is slated for a summer 2009 release. Screenshots can be found after the break.
