According to sales estimates, Super Mario Galaxy sold 130,000 units on its first day in Japan. Not terribly impressive for a “core” Mario title and far less than some were expecting, but all in all, by no means a disappointment.

If previous Mario titles are any indication, we can expect sales to continue on strong throughout the coming weeks (and months), akin to the launch of New Super Mario Bros. on DS.
