Resident Evil Code Veronica Wiimake Planned, Capcom Hints

As far as the Resident Evil series goes, Capcom has been seen as neglecting the Wii. There’s untapped potential for a big-budget horror title, but owners of the console have been subjected to GameCube ports and the not-so ambitious on-rails shooter The Umbrella Chronicles. While the latter was far from being a terrible game, it did not ooze quality and ultimately wasn’t what fans really wanted.

Good news is, things may be changing soon on the Wii front. In a recent interview, Capcom PR man Matt Dahlgren drops word that something is in store for Code Veronica fans on March 12, in response to the question of if any RE titles are heading towards PSN and XBLA:

Nothing is planned for the game regarding a remake on PSN/XBLA, but what I can say is if you are a fan of Code Veronica you should pay attention in the next couple of weeks there is some news you should be very pleased with. Tell him to pay attention on the 12th (March).

If you recall, Resident Evil 5 producer Masachika Kawata mentioned of Capcom’s desire to create a new Wii title set inside the RE universe awhile back. With that in mind, could we be looking at an enhanced Wiimake of Code Veronica? Possibly! Then again, this could also be an entirely new game loosely related to it, like a prequel or sequel. Hard to say either way, but looks like we’ll know more on the 12th regardless.
