Nintendo Flicks Homebrew Kill Switch In Wii Menu 4.3

Nintendo silently rolled out a Wii Menu update last night, once again taking a stab at crippling homebrew. Now at version 4.3, the latest system software revision scans for and deletes any files it deems as “unauthorized.” Homebrew, of course, falls under that umbrella.

Unspecified “behind the scenes enhancements” that allegedly improve system performance are also promised, reiterating what numerous updates over the past year have touted. Enticing, right? We jest. If history is any indication, there’s no doubt that hackers are devising a workaround. Regardless, if you value homebrew at all, then it may be wise to wait this one out.

Do they ever learn....

Well, time to crack the authentication code and add it into homebrew then I guess, huh? With Nintendo's firmware being as seemingly open as it is, faking authentication SHOULD be fairly easy compared to any similar tasks.

'There is far more to brew than piracy, though it'd be hard to deny that that is made possible through similar apps.

I do it for the multi-region capabilities, online quake gx,doom ports, media playback for avi,divx,480p us import playback for cube games,etc...

I can also install my original games to a hdd. therefore improving game performance no end.

My nintendo wii works better than most round here.

win,win!' :D
