Mario Galaxy Leaks Nearly Three Weeks Before Release

Apparently, grubby pirates have already gotten their hands on Mario Galaxy nearly three weeks before the official US release and have released it onto the internet.

How did this happen? According to a forum member over at NeoGAF, the kiosk discs being sent over to various EBGames and GameStop stores actually contain the full game code. A ten minute time limit is present when played on the store’s demo machines, but when played on a retail Wii, the time limit vanishes.

Can’t imagine Nintendo is happy about this. But why did they place the full game code on a kiosk disc? At any rate it should not affect sales of the game given the fact that modding a Wii is not a trivial task for most.

Leakaton! Mario Galaxy leaked on the interwebs! [NeoGAF]
