Xbox Live UK Boss Doesn’t Believe PSN Userbase Figures

Last month, Sony announced that worldwide PSN accounts hit the 20 million mark – an impressive feat no doubt. What is Microsoft’s take on the milestone? They aren’t buying it. Xbox UK boss Steve McGill calls the figures questionable:
When we talk about our numbers we feel they’re active users who are actively engaged in all the forms of entertainment we offer on Xbox 360. I think if you look at the comments made on the forums, or the comments made by analysts at Screen Digest then there’s questions over, well what does Sony’s numbers really mean? Are they duplicates? I think there’s a lot of questions there.
Sure, it’s easy to say the total figure may include dupe accounts but you have to remember that the combined install base for PS3 and PSP is over 60 million. Taking that into account, a userbase of 20 million is far from far-fetched, even when completely taking duplicates out of the equation.
