Who’s That Flying!? PSP, PS3 Bound

After this year’s sublime platformer Monsters (Probably) Stole My Princess, London-based developer Mediatonic is serving up another power-packed PlayStation Minis effort, one that is set to transcend a multitude of genres. Who’s That Flying!? is touted as a “side-scrolling shooter crossed with tower defence and courtroom drama, all doused in sheer awesomeness – AND THEN SET ON FIRE.”

As its core, the title is a frantic side-scrolling shooter that borrows strategic elements from tower-defense classics. Backed by an original cast of animated characters, it boasts a story mode that spans 15 levels across six worlds. Essentially, players are tasked with protecting cities from an onslaught of menacing Doom Beasts. Humanity has called on a mysterious and powerful figure known as the Guardian of Earth to vanquish the threat. Also promised are “awesome unlockable extras” and 25 challenge mode levels.

While there’s no word on a release date, the inky 2D visuals of WTF!? and its over-the-top premise have already managed to pique our interest. We look forward to more on this one.
