Stringer: Innovation Is Next

Speaking during a press conference earlier today in Tokyo, Sony CEO Howard Stringer said that PlayStation 3 sales are on the rise, with close to 200,000 units being sold in European territories each week and around 40,000 to 50,000 in Japan. It’s great that sales are on the up, but what’s next for Sony?

In Stringer’s words, “actual innovation” is next. Upcoming networking services for the PlayStation 3, such as Home we presume, will play a key role in Sony’s new drive for innovation, according to Stringer. Furthermore, Stringer said that the PlayStation Network itself will expand to offer other kinds of content, but did not give specifics.
