RPG powerhouse Square Enix has registered a “Lord of Vermillion” trademark at the Japanese Patent Office. While the name does bare some resemblance to SEGA’s RPG hit Sword of Vermilion, it’s unlikely that Square would be working on a sequel to a 1989 Genesis game.

What could it be? Some are speculating that it is the name for Squenix’s new MMO, or another Final Fantasy XI expansion.
