Spanish Dev Team Says “Game Over” On PSGroove PSP Port

Bad news if you’ve been holding out for a PSP port of PSGroove or its variants (PSFreedom, PSJailbreak). A group of Spanish developers that have been hammering away at a promising port for weeks now have conceded that it is a feat deemed too difficult, if not borderline impossible, as detailed on the official project page. Here’s a translated snip:

Discontinued. Everything indicates that this port cannot be made. Even it could, it would take too long to develop, leaving the project unfeasible.

Considering no one else has stepped up to the plate — at least publicly, it looks like this PSP port is not happening. Of course, there’s always the off-chance that someone could surprise us, but we wouldn’t bet on it.

For those that want to take advantage of the PSGroove exploit, we’d recommend picking up any of the compatible USB development boards (such as a Teensy, AT90USBKEY). Or, if you have the means — the myriad of Android ports will get the job done, as will the non-iOS iPhone port and BrandonW’s nifty port for TI-84+ calculators.
