Sony Scraps Plans To Release 4GB PSP-3000 Bundle

Over the past weekend, reports emerged that Amazon was axing pre-orders for the second PSP-3000 Entertainment Pack, which included a 4GB Memory Stick, along with a voucher code for the upcoming PSP port Everyday Shooter. This further led folks to speculate that Sony was issuing a recall on 3000 units, presumably to the supposed screen issue — which, as we pointed out in our review, is nothing more than a slight annoyance. The improved response time and vibrant colors more than make up for it.

So, what’s the deal? Sony marketing manager John Koller has provided an update on the PlayStation Blog regarding the pre-order cancellations, revealing that SCEA has scrapped plans to release the 4GB Entertainment Pack in North America and is instead opting to release a Piano Black variation of the Ratchet bundle in December. The standalone hardware package is still slated for a release later this year.
