SEGA Aims To Better Integrate Western, Eastern Divisions

Following less than stellar sales of MadWorld here in the states, SEGA strategic planning Takayuki Kawagoe believes a management structure shakeup is in order for the company, as part of an effort to better integrate and tie together relations in its Western and Eastern divisions.
As Nintendo has attested to on the hardware front, Kawagoe admitted that the Japanese video game market as a whole is in a downward slump, and SEGA is feeling the pinch. Recently released DS titles such as Shining Force Feather and World Destruction have not performed up to their potential in the region.
We need more integration so projects and initiatives on both sides can benefit from everyone’s experience and expertise.
SEGA plans to combat the slump by expanding reach of IP onto other key media platforms, such as TV. Kawagoe specifically pointed towards the anime adaptation of Valkyria Chronicles. In midst of all this, I can only hope the low sales of MadWorld does not dissuade Sega from taking risks with new IP in the future.
