Citing reliable sources at Sony, rumor monger Gamer Gal reports that DivX is coming to PSP. The functionality is said to be included in the upcoming firmware 4.0 update, due out “within two months.”

With the release of firmware 4.0, users will be reportedly be able to download DivX-encoded movies and TV shows direct from the PC store and playback them on their PSP.

hmm...interesting....

why dont they focus on updating the flash player and putting up more demos and content on the PSP sites than stuff like internet radio and divx....

although saying that,divx playback would be nice but i'd guess that it'd be another slim only 'feature'

Why would it be a slim only feature. I know for a fact that AVC(h264) playback requires more spec than divx playback.

im pretty sure that AVC playback is enchanced by on-board features of the psp though.and it may be a slim only feature for the same reason skype is, not enough space on the NAND flash

I highly doubt it will be Slim only. If Sony is going to start selling DivX encoded movies through the PC store, then they'll want to make it compatible with all PSPs. Unlike with Skype, they actually make money off this.
