According to Japan’s Nikkei Electronic News, the recently announced PSP Skype functionality may be launching as early as this month in Japan and will be limited only to owners of the PSP Slim hardware revision.
Nikki reports that a microphone accessory for use with the service will be sold separately, while the Skype software itself will be offered as a free download to all Slim owners.
The service will not carry a charge for PSP-to-PSP and PSP-to-PC calls. However, signing up for a dedicated phone number will cost around 2,250 yen.
