PSP Internal Hard Drive Mod

Posted by x3sphere at January 4, 2008, 1:12 am

Avid handheld modder PvP_LostKnight cracked open his PSP and stuck in a 30GB hard drive. Yes, a 30GB hard drive. There’s apparently no size cap either, which means a hard drive well over 30GB in size can be installed. Files are accessed through the usbhost menu in iR Shell, as shown in the video above.

It’s a very cool mod, but there is just one drawback. After installing the hard drive, you won’t be able to access the UMD drive anymore. So if you’re willing to do away with the UMD drive, then maybe this mod is for you. A full tutorial is expected soon.

Thanks to ztryfe for the tip!

really nice but not quite as elegant as i would personally like it....it does show the potential the psp could have though if sony was willing to do a third revision....think about it,take out the UMD and put ina replaceable hard drive with a download service like steam or xbox live arcade....that would be well worth the extra that sony would put onto the price i reckon.
pity the USB couldn't of been resolved.

Any word on the actual tut for this?
