PSP Firmware 3.73 Released

Posted by x3sphere on November 29, 2007 @ 2:09 am

A new firmware update is now available via Network Update for the PSP. Upon booting up the update on our PSP, we found only one familiar change listed in the changelog:

Support for PLAYSTATION Network titles has been expanded

Definitely not an exciting update. Though it does mean that more PSN titles for PSP are on the way — and they will require firmware 3.73.

Well another thing that I don't know what it means :p :

Math and Alex have said nothing is changed (module-wise) in this firmware, aside from the version number. Perhaps the updater itself has been modified... but yeah, a useless update if not even pops has been improved xD

This should be called the ultimate useless update.

RJC4LIFE says:

Useless until God of War(or other) comes out running under a higher firmware leaving those of us on 371M33 behind...

Hanzo_f19 says:

You just have to do some hex editing since 3.73 doesn't have anything different from 3.72 and 3.72 games work on 3.71 M33.

frosty5689 says:

Um... the reason why it requires higher firmware because it requires certain new modules or code from the psp firmware itself. Not because of the firmware version it detects. Even if you trick it into believing you have that specific firmware version it still won't run properly.

Hanzo_f19 says:

You're correct, but sometimes it does not.Eg:Take a look to the Warhamer 40,000 demo, it requires 3.72 and I hex edited to require 3.52 and it worked. Just luck I guess:rolleyes:

RJC4LIFE says:

I Played that demo straight from Sony and I'm using 371 M33.
