Those thirsting for a stylistic 2D anime fighter on PSP need look no further, as Capcom announced today that its forthcoming anime fighter Fate/unlimited codes is on track for a summer 2009 release in North America.

In development by the same team responsible for Tatsunoko vs. Capcom, the title promises to deliver a “compelling combat experience,” complete with a deep roster of characters backed by gorgeous 2D watercolor-like backdrops. To add an extra layer of depth, each combatant is supplemented with an unique array of causal-friendly special moves. Featured in the PSP rendition is local ad-hoc play, allowing two players to face off between each other across two PSP units wirelessly.

In a Capcom first on handhelds, Fate/unlimited codes will be sold exclusively through the PSP Store. If you were expecting a discount because of this, think again. Pricing is set at $29.99, putting it in the same league as retail efforts.

This kinda reminds me of Soul Calibur games.

Especially the health bars in this game is what gave me the reminder.

The game looks really good for a PSP title. As fighters go I hope this will be better then some other anime games that have made there way to the PSP.
