PSP Custom Firmware 3.90 M33-2

Posted by x3sphere at February 13, 2008, 1:21 pm

Homebrew developer Dark_AleX has released an update to PSP custom firmware 3.90 M33. The update features numerous improvements in plugin loading code, notably fixing issues related with loading plugins on slow memory sticks. The complete changelog is detailed below.

Changes:

- Improvements in plugins loading code:

* Fixed some problems with problematic cards due to filesystem not mounted.
* Now plugins should read the faster.
* Problem fixed with lines with spaces at the end.

- Added the rest of regions to the recovery option fakeregion.

- (PSP SLIM): Added patches in nand ipl to allow Booster multiploader and TimeMachine iploader to boot from nand.

Note: only 3.90 M33-2 and higher can be booted from nand in slim with those ipl loaders,
not official Sony firmwares or previous versions of M33.

Changes in updater:

- The 3.90 eboot downloading code is now more stable, no more freezes after selecting AP
- Memory stick write in the 3.90 downloading code is delayed the maximum possible for faster operation
(the system prefers big chunks of data written at once).

As usual, this update can be downloaded from Network Update, which requires an active WiFi connection, or directly below. Updates are cumulative, so you can safely skip installing previous updates if you are still running an earlier 3.90 M33 release.

Wow that was fast, and thankfully now that Filer has rar support I don't have to wait until I get home to update..thanks as always Dax and you too Exsphere!!

does this fix the readin off game380 problem? and changes it to game390???

WOW 1.5 homebrew finally works on PSP Slims :)

Now does this patch only apply to slims? or does the PHat PSP's get this update too? or do the PSP Phat's get stuck with the 1.50 kernal patches instead?

Concidering the fact that PSP Slims can hold more i'm leaning towards the 1.5 patch for PHat's only (since it has to remove certain files inorder to run 1.50) and the internal multiploader/Time Machine is for the Slims

icedman204 says:

BTW, it still has that over4GB crash on the Slims when running homebrew on at 8GB or higher memory stick.

homn says:

Is it safe to update to 3.90 M33-2 from 3.90 M33 with 1.5 Kernel Add-on v1?

icedman204 says:

yes it is, but most of the features are ment for the slim. altho the added plugins loads faster is a plus.

You should try to update ur 1.5 patch to v2 (that is if you plan to use anything larger then 4GB for 1.5 homebrew)

thanks you

x3sphere says:

@frosty568: nope, he forgot to fix that. It's not worth doing a whole update for so probably will be fixed in the next release.

komplexq says:

So let me get this straight... the slim now has 1.5 enabled with this upgrade?

x3sphere says:

When the Time Machine is released, then yes. 3.90 M33-2 only adds support for the Time Machine IPL loader.

DAWG32502 says:

I have FW 3.90, can someone help me get this--my psp won't let me do an update! I would really appreciate it, I want to play downloaded games, and is this the right way to do it?

Edit by Administration: You'll need to use Pandora's battery with a Magic Memory Stick, which can only be made by someone with a PSP that's already on a custom firmware. Try asking friends! Also, please do not type using all caps, thank you.

icedman204 says:

Okay just tested a few more homebrew and x3 is right only a select few (which is very little) of the 1.5 homebrew work.

So i guess i still have to wait for the full Time Machine to come out.

gnash says:

ok loaded this morning and it seemed successful, loaded my iso and my umd with no problem, i just tried running my emulator from both the game and game150 folder and neither will work, did i just loose my emulator capability by updating to the 3.90 m33-2 customer firmware, had 3.52 m33-4 yesterday and the only thing i could not do was remote play to ps3, thought this update would fix that, instead i move back a space
what the dilly yo

x3sphere says:

You need to install the 1.5 kernel add-on:

http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=5634

gnash says:

even if i started from 1.5 first?- not to sound dumb but is the 1.5 kernel somewhere on one of these threads and is is specific to the 3.90 m33-2 version?

x3sphere says:

Your homebrew is written for the 1.5 kernel.. which 3.90 M33 lacks, so you will need to install the add-on. It doesn't matter if you started on 1.5 first or not.

gnash says:

can i use the the 1.5 kernel i had to use before doing the 3.52 m33 install or is there a new/ different one?

x3sphere says:

The instructions to install with all required files are in the thread link I gave you. If you mean the 150.PBP that you used for the 3.52 M33 install then yes you can use that.. the file hasn't changed.

gnash says:

yes all is well, just waiting to get home and try remote play- thanks for the help

Tomacco says:

What about the 'CPU clock in XMB' bug? I thought Dark_Alex was gonna fix it in 3.90 or 3.90 M33-2.

If you change the CPU clock in XMB through the VSH menu, when the screenlight goes off, clock changes again to 222 MHz.

Thanks.

Acerthief says:

I think it's fixed, as I have just update his PSP to 3.90M33 and haven't encountered the problem.

Tomacco says:

Thank you for your answer, but it isn't fixed.

Check it again, please. Press SELECT, change CPU CLOCK XMB to 20/10 for example, and press SELECT to exit VSH menu. You will now notice XMB is very slow, ok.
Now wait until screenlight goes off, or hold the bright button 1 sec.
If you turn the screenlight on again, you will notice XMB is as fast as normal, although if yo press SELECT, VSH will be showing 20/10. That's the bug.

Thanks. ;)

RJC4LIFE says:

I didn't think it was on the fly anyway..

PAinKiLLa says:

I have a couple of problems with 3.90 m33-2 .
1 Patapon crashes at loading screen.
2 The PS3 poker game (the one on the store) has bricked my psp twice now while using remote play.

Other then these minor bugs its working fine the Go!Messenger works fine too.

dmhchew says:

For patapon -> go to Recovery Menu> Go to Config.>UMD MODE change it with Sony NP9660

Illegal Machine says:

Dark_AleX reads Maxconsole forums... I dunno about this one because I just joined.. Edit: Just checked and he is registered here

but if you post a new thread reporting it I KNOW he (or Math) will see it and probably fix it...

I posted once about how the unknown.png wasnt showing up and he replied quickly, mentioned that he forgot to include that fix, and it showed up in the next version...

My version of Patapon works pretty well with the M33 driver (dumped the ISO myself)

I love Dax
