PSP Custom Firmware 3.80 M33 – 1.50 Addon Released

Posted by EvilSeph at January 15, 2008, 4:08 am

Following the anticipated release of PSP custom firmware 3.80 M33 and the rather quick bug fix update, M33 have released a 1.50 Addon for FAT PSPs running 3.80 M33 only.

This release does not come with any instructions, but thanks to MrTuto_Alek we have instructions on how to install this 1.50 Addon for you:

Update: Thanks to everyone who commented and told us the instructions were wrong. They have now been updated with working instructions. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Instructions
- Copy the files in the release to a directory called anything BUT UPDATE
- Move the directory you created to /PSP/GAME/.
- Get the Sony 1.50 update and copy it to the root with name “150.PBP”
- Run the program and done.

As we reported earlier, 3.80 M33 includes a new feature to update the firmware directly via Network Update however this will not work for this 1.50 Addon as it is an optional addon (and only for FAT PSPs).

Finally, please note that 3.80 M33 must be installed before installing this addon. You can check out our 3.80 M33 install guide for detailed setup and installation instructions.

It didn´t work for me!!

PSP/GAME/UPDATE (All files)
150.PBP in ROOT

I have 3.80 M33v2!!

EvilSeph says:

Sorry about that. Instructions have been fixed. Thanks for everyone who reported the problem. :)

YoKo says:

What's the 1.50 is needed for anyway?

slumber says:

Thanks for this Addon. However, there's a notable delay in loading the video thumbnails when choosing a video. The psptube doesn't work either now. Though, the gpsp works just fine. =)

malibooroo says:

Took me a couple of attempts 2 realise the root meant F: *Bangs Head* But after that it worked just fine ;-)

homn says:

The 3.80 M33 - 1.50 add on must go in a folder named
OTHER. Also the official 1.50 update must be in the Other folder. The other folder will then be placed in X:/PSP/GAME. Is this correct?

x3sphere says:

Not exactly. The 1.50 update, named 150.PBP, must be placed in the root of your memory stick. The root is the location you see after opening up your memory stick on the computer (F:/ for example).

As for the OTHER folder, yes, place that in X:/PSP/GAME

I have a stupid question.

I still have Dark Alex 3.40 AE, and it feels its old now. How to i update it to 3.80?

x3sphere says:

First you need to install 3.52 M33:

http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=2732

Then apply the 3.52 M33-4 update:

http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3185

Once you're updated to 3.52 M33-4, then follow the 3.80 M33 install guide:

homn says:

The pspdecrypt.prx, libpsardumper.prx, and ipl_update.prx are all part of the 1.50 add on right?

EvilSeph says:

Yes. All the files in the RAR need to be placed in their own folder which then goes into X:/PSP/GAME/.

YoKo says:

Anyone, what's the purpose of this 1.50? It's needed for hoebrew or for what?

x3sphere says:

It's needed for older homebrew applications. Most applications nowadays are written for both the 1.5 and 3.X kernel.

YoKo says:

Thank you for your answer, this site rules!

Tayen says:

Hello

Just a quick question, maybe somebody who has 3.80 M33 and the 1.50 addon could verify on his PSP:

Just before the installation of the 1.50 addon, there is a warning that the "Location Free Player" feature and some languages will not be available any more after the installation of the addon.
Can somebody please check on his PSP if the "Remote Play" feature is still there and does NOT get erased? Because this is a feature that I would not like to lose, as it allows me to watch videos stored on my PS3 from anywhere in the world where I have internet access. (by the way: do any others here use that feature?)

Thanks a lot
Tayen

frisomel says:

so when this is added-on..I can make older homebrews work 4 the version 3.80 M33 or higher?..

Acerthief says:

Yup. and possibly Time Baby works. ;)

jaydenb says:

it never worked for me it said corruptaded data some one help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

jx233 says:

You're not being specific enough.

Are you on Official Firmware? Do you have a PSP Slim or PSP Phat?

Did you place it into right folder? Because the correct folder is ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE (ms0 means MemoryStick Root.)

Also you need the 150.PBP to make the addon work. The 150.PBP goes into ms0:/PSP/GAME/UPDATE also.

SkY_dEaLeR says:

After installing the CFW on my PSP2000 would i be able to play homebrews(snes games etc) like i do with my psp1000

january39 says:

Yes, but only those ported for 3.XX kernel.
