Developer Hellcat has released a minor update to his Pandora installer for 3.X kernel based custom firmware, a handy application that allows users to create a base Pandora setup (service mode battery, magic memory stick) on their PSP.

Revision 3b features automatic detection for PSP units with a TA-085 v2 motherboard. If the aforementioned motherboard is detected, the application will now notify users that they are unable to convert a battery to Pandora on their PSP due to various hardware changes Sony made.

Revision 3b: (01.03.2008)
Added a warning/notice screen at start when the program detects a PSP Slim TA-085-v2 mainboard to avoid cunfusion and wondering why the patching of the battery doesn’t work.
These boards can not patch the battery due to changes in the hardware of the new revision!

This application has a major glitch. Hopefully this msg reaches Hellcat. When trying to make a Pandora Battery/Revert to Normal Battery it SIMPLY DOESNT WORK after you have used the official Pandora Battery creator and switch back and forth between them.

Hellcat says:

Huh?
Yah, it reached him.... so you used the original Battery Creator and then wanted to revert to battery with this?

I'll try that, however the has nothing to do with the other.... weird....

[EDIT]
Just tried:
Hopped into 1.50, used the original Battery tool, hopped back to 3.90-M33 and used this one.
All went fine....

porchemasi says:

hmm Hellcat ... i dont know exactly what i did but all i know is that at the moment on my PSP it does not create a pandora battery, it says that it did but infact did not. But the official pandora creator still works ... maybe its jsut a glitch on mine

Hellcat says:

What firmware are you on?

RJC4LIFE says:

I converted my battery on my phat to pandora and tried to convert it back to normal and it froze up on exit.Tried it again and it still froze up but it did convert the battery back to normal. And I'm on 390M33-2..

I converted my slim, bought it this weekend..love it,to pandora and back to normal without a hitch.372-->(DC4)380M33-5--->390M33-2.

RJC4LIFE says:

Toppers..I tried to use the Nand dump option and it hung up at the dumping....screen.I had to reboot and the MS led was off when I did.It rebooted just fine but I connected to my pc via USB to see if the dump was successful and to my surprise there were only 3 files on it.Two weird files with Japanese names and one file that was just labeled as 3.91GB..I tried opening the first two files and Vista reported that the syntax labels or was it volumes was incorrect and wouldn't proceed.I freaked out needless to say,I had alot of stuff on my stick that was and is gone forever..

I then had no choice but to format the stick and start over..and my battery was a Pandora at the time..I formatted in the XMB,connected to USB,copied and ran Panxxrev3b and like an idiot reformatted the stick for Pandora and chose the reboot option.I don't have to tell you what happened next..to top it off I had just sold my Phat and the wall charger that I had since I was using the USB charge in my slim more anyway..I finally went to Walmart at like 2am and bought a new one, powered it with that loaded the XMB then put the battery back in,booted up the Panxxrev3b again and converted my battery back to normal..whew.....................................................................................close call, and I feel like an idiot..Can I safely go back to Pandora on my slim? I'm assuming yes since I don't have the TA-85v2 mb,I want to because I happen to like the extra security it provides(380M33-5 recovery via DC4) and for the TM..

But what happened? I'm afraid to try the Nand dump again, but I've heard alot that it's a good idea to do..any feedback? X3? Hellcat????

RJC4LIFE says:

Toppers..any help???????????????????/

bubblingwaters says:

is this a upms battery?

paperone says:

hi! is this hombrew still work in 4.01 m33-2?

RJC4LIFE says:

I used it to convert my Pandora back to normal and reinstall my backed up batser.bin file but haven't tried it to go back to pandora...kinda worried about that,,4xx kernel and all..

angelsniper45 says:

can i install the generic serial onto a psp slim battery?

x3sphere says:

Yep, it'll work.

angelsniper45 says:

thank, its much easier than hardmodding it, although i should have thought of that before i hardmodded it, lol

B2K24 says:

This file is not hosted on Exophase, I can't download.
Can anyone post it please?

x3sphere says:

It is actually, it's linked in the universal unbricker guide. Here's the link:

B2K24 says:

Thanks so much

Hellcat says:

Howdy folks :)

No need to download Rev3b - HERE COMES REV-4 :)

*** UPDATE *** UPDATE *** UPDATE ***

Revision 4: ( 15.07.2008 )
- added a new menu system for more easy navigation of all available options
(I ran out of buttons for new functions *lol*)
Usage should be a bit more easy now, less confusion....
- added option to install TimeMachine IPL to the MemStick
(the IPL is build in, not required to have it as file on the MemStick)
- added option for installing a DDC stick! ("Desparter Del Cementario", or however it's spelled ;-) )
Now you can finally make a MagicStick with this app that also works perfectly on the Slim and
installs a recent CFW! :-)
No need for any additional tools or setups.
(3.40 module extraction based on M33's PSARDumper)
- added option to modify a DDC MagicStick to launch ELF-Menu, instead of the original
DDC ressurection.elf - already presupplied with NAND-Tool (propperly set up) and the
original ressurection to be launched from the menu.
For all you maintanance needs :-)
- It now looks for the 1.50 updater under "150.PBP", no longer under "UPDATE.PBP"!
- The required updater .PBPs are checked on startup and missing ones a are noted in a warning at the bottom of the mainscreen

*** UPDATE *** UPDATE *** UPDATE ***

Enjoy! :)

B2K24 says:

WOW thank you Hellcat, awesome update, thanks so much for your work and release.

x3sphere says:

Very nice release. I will need to update my universal unbricker guide :) Also liking the redesigned user interface. :thumbup1:

Kwipper says:

When I load this. I can see that I do not have 380.pbp installed. However the reason for that being is because I am currently using 3.90pbp instead.

Does this app not detect the latest in sony (offical) firmwares?

Hellcat says:

It needs the 380.PBP for the DDC installation, has nothing to do with the FW you are currently running.
The 380.PBP is actually used (only) by the installed DDC to install 3.80(-M33).

Kwipper says:

Ahh okay. I'll download 380.PBP then.

RJC4LIFE says:

This is only for going back to 390M33 until Dax releases a DC for 401 right? Anyone tested it in the 4XX kernel?

rnc_ebm says:

any link

RNC_EBM

Hellcat says:

Yes 8)
I made R4 while runniog 4.01-M33 on my Slim :)

What's that supposed to tell me?

LUIGI074 says:

If I hard-modded my battery to be a Pandora battery, can I still use this utility to restore my Pandora battery to a normal battery?

x3sphere says:

No that won't work... only way is by soldering the original pin back.

aero125 says:

Hi Hellcat,

I have made a MMS (with TM/DCv5) using the instructions given by x3sphere in the Universal Unbricker tutorial. I would like try the 3.XXR4 with the Elf/Nandtool capability.

Could I replaced the 380.pbp with the 390.pbp instead (the additional files needed), so that DDC will install 390M33 instead ?? Or is it that the DDC by default in the 3.XXR4 is v4 ?

There is a nand dump option in the DC. Nand could also be dumped using the nandtool. Is there any difference between the two ?

If I dumped nand using DC, could I write it back using the nandtool ?

Thk u very much for your advice !

Hellcat says:

Hi!

The DDC that comes with the Pandora Installer always installs 3.80-M33.
If the dumps DDC <=> Nand-Tool are interchangeble.... honestly, I never tried.... don't know :)

aero125 says:

Clear. Thk u Hellcat.

XsavioR says:

I Know it was released litterally years ago. But MS MasteR was written for just this reason, I highly suggest you look into it. If you had already you would have a backup of your MS now.

PS MS MASTER only works on xp. I wrote it for people (like me) who insist on testing every thing that comes out. Its a good policy to test peoples applications, But even though all of the DEVs strive to make their code bug free, loss of something like MS data is an acceptable loss, mainly because it is so easily avoided.

Sorry for your loss of data bud, Please be more carefull to back up data before testing applications.

PS ever since idstorage... if its possible to back data up b4 running a patcher (just about every thing has a backup option for things that are not more easily maintained by the user, ie nand backups) I always do. Coding a backup utility takes time and effort and the devs wouldnt make it if they didnt think there was a reason to use it. We try to minimize the risk involved 50% of that is good testing, good code, the other 50% of it is following directions, and backing up your files (weather in the MS, or backing up bin files.) so if something goes wrong , and we all know from time to time it does, we give our selves (and the devs helping us ) the greatest chances of recovery.

Hellcat says:

Huh? Data loss? IDS? Patcher?

Anyone feel like filling me in? :)

Hellcat says:

*** UPDATE *** UPDATE *** UPDATE ***

added installation of DDCv6

Enjoy!
(first post has been updated with new download :))

silver_surfer says:

@ Hellcat:

thanks for the update!

Fako says:

when are we going to be able to pandorize new slims? anyone knows? i miss my phat and all my friends have slims

x3sphere says:

Many of the Slim units being sold today are still TA-088 v2, which works with DC6. You might never be able to use Pandora on a TA-088 v3. From the looks of it they totally blocked the battery exploit.

silver_surfer says:

I hope DA & Team M33 finds another route..

Hellcat says:

My vote (guess) goes for "PSP finally joined the club of consoles needing a modchip"

silver_surfer says:

I hate to admit it but I think your right.. :crying:

but I hope you and other developer doesn't stop developing homebrew for

PSP.

ashaab2007 says:

hey hellcat, can you please temme abt this situation i m facing

i want to knw whether the new version directly intalls DDCv6 without the need of puttin all the official firmware files like 3.90.pbp etc....
Can you plz temme abt this...coz if we don have to put the files..is it tat we can directly install DDCv6 into the memory card without the need of downloadin the offical firmwares...

ashaab2007 says:

OK HELLCAT I UNDERSTOOD DAT WE NEED THE OFFICIAL FIRMWARES..BUT I WOULD BE VERY GREATFUL TO YOU.IF YOU COULD WRITE A GUIDE ON HOW TO INSTALL DCCV6 THROUGH THIS APPLICATION EASILY...

AND ONE MORE QUESTION ....SHUD WE DOWNLOAD DDCV6 OR THIS APPLICATION DOES ALL THE WORK???

silver_surfer says:

@ ashaab2007:

pls. avoid using all caps.

there's a detailed guide on how to install/create magic ms with DC6

just use Pandora Installer for 3.xx kernels Revision 4a:

http://forums.exophase.com/showthread.php?t=3780

Hellcat says:

If you only want to install DDCv6 and nothing else, all you need it the Installer itself and the 401.PBP, you don't need anything else.

I'll see that I make the readme a bit more detailed on this for the next release :)

synyster522 says:

When I use 3.xx kernels Revision 4a I can't find the option to "install a 1.50 firmware, containing Pandora, to the memory stick" like in the old update, so do I even have to do this?
Thanks.

Hellcat says:

It's the third, if memory servers well.... the last one of the Pandora install options ("Install Classic Pandora....")

You only need it, if you want it....
For a DDCv4 or DDCv6 install you don't need it, every function takes care of everything it needs, not necessary to run one of the others before (except the additional tools, they require a set up DDCv4)

synyster522 says:

Nice, thanks alot for your help Hellcat :)

Mikhail says:
