NPD October: Wii Takes Top Spot

Microsoft enjoyed a month at the top spot thanks to the release of Halo 3, but Nintendo has managed to reclaim its throne in NPD sales figures. According to sales data for the month of October, the Wii sold a total of 519,000 units compared to the 360’s 366,000.

Software sales, on the other hand, saw Bungie’s Halo 3 leading the way at 433,800 units sold. Activision’s Guitar Hero III was no pushover either, selling over 1 million units across multiple platforms. Overall, Xbox 360 took the lead in software sales.
