Kingdom Hearts Goes Portable

Speaking to Famitsu, Square-Enix character designer Tetsuya Nomura revealed that the next Kingdom Hearts game will not be heading to consoles. Instead, he said that the next game in the series will be another spin-off set to grace handheld platforms – either the PSP, DS or cell phones.
In this new Kingdom Hearts title, Nomura says he wants to explain what Mickey did in the World of Darkness, and the events leading up to how he got his keyblade.
All of this just begs the question – will the game be released for the PSP, DS, or cell phones? It’s really hard to say, since the core Kingdom Hearts games were both on the PS2, Chain of Memories was released on the GBA, and there was a version of Kingdom Hearts released for cell phones a couple years back. My guess? It’ll be on the PSP. The new title seems to be striving for a darker theme, which would be more suited towards the PSP’s demographic.

Looks like Squeenix is set to alienate their American fans even more...
These oddball marketing ploys that seem to work well in Japan, are oft times not-so-hot in the west.
PSP or DS sounds good, so long as it's not another Chain of Memories. While CoM was fun, it was only a rehash of all the areas in the first Kingdom Hearts, with a little bit of story thrown in that lead up to KH2.
And please, for the love of god. Never EVER make these games for cellphones.
